Ford’S “Auto Nights” SEMA VIRTUAL SPECIAL

This was a huge collaborative effort for me and my design team. We had to make enough content for 2 nights worth of showing, across the Bronco, F-150, and Mach-E platforms. Dozens of guest stars. Many products and lifestyles were shown over the entirety of the special. Truly a feat of artistic and marketing excellence considering the tight schedule we had for showtime.

Please note, this video does not play. Ford has made the original virtual sema show stream “private” for unknown reasons, as of June 2, 2021.

In its place will be the trailer for the Virtual SEMA show

please refer to the other videos for visual reference on my participation for the project. These videos are Q&A sessions that borrowed segments and animations from the original broadcast during the second day of the show. While Not as polished as the original stream, these videos are still indicative of what i brought to the table for Ford’s virtual sema show.

My input? I contributed to the majority, if not all of the overlay graphics you see scattered throughout the program and its various sections. Lower thirds, QR code banners, full screen takeovers, these were all exported AE animations that were then given to editors to place in the final renders.

Also the Auto Nights logo you see before you. While our 2D team came up with the initial design, I was tasked with bringing it to life with modeling it in 3D. We knew it had to look and feel like “neon.” However early renditions proved to be too clunky and old fashioned for neon to be the best approach. We later came to a more sleek, fluorescent appeal with the lights being more “built” versus the tube lighting of conventional neon.

Once the logo was approved, the 3D assets were handed off to the Unreal artists as the entirety of the virtual shows environments were done in Unreal.
