LEGO WORKSHOP
So let’s get right into it!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Lego as a child. One day I’m scrolling LinkedIn, I see a Lego post about careers and all that. Why not look into it? So I apply for a graphic designer role. Why not, it’s Lego!?Weeks go by and they then formally invite me to attend a workshop they’re hosting in Billund, Denmark! Out of 400+ applications and virtual screenings, they flew me and 13 others (from a variety of countries across the globe) out to their campus building for a creative workshop from Nov1st-Nov4th; to see who REALLY has the chops to work at Lego. There I participated in group and independent exercises specifically designed around showing my creativity and skill, while also talking with various people inside and outside of Lego.
(I’d show you guys what I did at Lego and talk more about it, but I’m legally bound to not disclose that information, they steer a tight ship over there!)
Long story short, I obviously didn’t get offered the chance. But not because of anything negative. I was told I carried exceptional skill and talent my way, I “had a personality that was unique to Denmark” and was ultimately cast away for a better fitting candidate(s). However no love lost, working at Lego demanded I relocate and live in Billund. A big ask for such an offer!
Regardless, it was an amazing experience, I met amazing and talented people on my first trip EVER abroad into Europe. I couldn’t be more grateful for an opportunity. Despite not getting the job, it’s awesome to think that Lego considered me!
Here’s a picture of me and the others at Lego House museum!
Below are more pictures of my trip.
